In November, new figures showed that 20% of infections were resistant to antibiotics in 2022, an increase of 4% vs. 2021. As a result, health officials were warning of the alarming risk to the public if this trend continued. To help viewers understand the implications, I was asked to put together an item with Dr Ranj to talk us through these latest stats as well as what antibiotics are used for and what we can do to help reduce the burden of antibiotic resistant bacteria.
